Damages due to Typhoon Frank

Typhoon Frank battered 58 provinces across 15 regions in directly affecting more than 900,000 families or four million persons in 6,377 barangays of 419 municipalities.

The Western Visayas Region registered the most number of affected population recorded at 421,479 families or 2,159,780 persons. The figure represents about 44% of the total affected families affected by Typhoon Frank.

A total of 100,080 families or 500,494 persons sought refuge in 1,525 evacuation centers while 738,110 families or 3,492,286 persons opted to stay relatives or friends.

At least 557 deaths were recorded excluding casualties from the sunken MV Princess of the Stars. At least 827 persons were injured and 87 more remain missing.

At least 81,510 houses were destroyed while 326,321 houses were partially damaged. Of the total number of houses destroyed, 53,409 were in the Western Visayas Region. Accordingly, of the totally destroyed houses in Region VI, Iloilo has the most number of destroyed houses with 27,063 followed by Aklan with 14,199.

The total cost of damage to infrastructure and agriculture is P13.525B. The Western Visayas Region incurred approximately 60% of the total cost of damage amounting to P8 billion.
