DENGUE
A dengue outbreak was declared in Calasiao, Pangasinan after the number of suspected dengue cases in the town went up. Local health officials said they recorded 134 suspected dengue cases in Calasiao from January to August this year, while the DOH said it recorded a total of 720 suspected dengue cases in Pangasinan this year.
Meanwhile, in Central Luzon, 18 people, mostly children, died from dengue since January this year — almost twice the death toll for the same period last year, the regional Department of Health said. Aside from this, dengue patients tripled from 780 to 2,636, in Central Luzon, with Pampanga having the most number of cases at 1,009.
