Update and Call for Support for Victims of Floods and Landslides in St. Bernard, Southern Leyte

Series of heavy rains brought floods and landslides to southern parts wherein thousands of families were affected. The municipal government of St. Bernard declared the town under state of calamity to provide immediate assistance for the victims. However, the extent of damage brought by rain-induced disaster calls for everyone’s help. (You can view situation report from St. Bernard here.)

The municipality of St. Bernard has identified the following as immediate needs:

  • Food items and basic supplies
  • Drinking water
  • Medicines for possibility of common disease outbreak and for water-borne diseases

Long term assistance is also needed for the rehabilitation of houses and other infrastructures, and for construction of relocation sites (please see this for more details).
