DENR says no water crisis

Despite the shutting down of auxiliary power plants of the Angat Dam for maintenance and repair works, Environment Secretary Ramon Paje said the water concessionaires can have assurance that there are enough water supplies.
Paje assured that the 33-40 cubic meters per second (cms) can still be delivered through the low level water outlets of the reservoir.
As of July 9, 6 AM, the water level of Angat Dam is 158.66 meters above mean sea level.
Condition of San Roque Dam
The water level in San Roque Dam also continued to drop. The current elevation is at 227 masl when it is supposedly at least 240 masl for July. According to Tommy Valdez, vice president for corporate social responsibility of San Roque Power Corp., the dam officials were expecting to rise with the onset of rainy season but it continues to drop since February.
According to forecasts of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), July will have below normal rainfall, and a near normal to normal rainfall is expected in August is expected. The onset of La Niña, on the other hand is expected on September (PDI, July 10, 2010).
